My Notepad

Every morning I make a decision. I do my morning routine and when I am ready to leave to start my day, whether that be work, church or whatever my plan for Saturday is, I need to make sure I have my wallet, phone, pen, passport copy and MP3 player. There is one thing that I do not always bring with me. My notepad.

At the beginning of my year, I purchased a notepad to write-down new vocabulary words. It has helped me learn vocab. Now when I hear a word that I don’t know, I write it down and review it later. It really works. If I have my notepad, I always write down the new vocabulary words. Without my notepad, it is much harder to remember words.

The problem is that when I leave, I make a decision that I am going to learn new Spanish words today or I am not. There are days when I do not make a commitment to say “I am going to learn new words today”.

I think that this example is related to our decisions of how our day will be too. When we get out of bed, we have the opportunity to say “I am going to do good work today and follow Jesus’ example” or we could not make a decision and go where life takes us. It is an interesting concept because sometimes I don’t make a decision and the day does not turn out well. Every morning, before I leave the house, I always try to tell myself, “I am going to do what God wants today”.
